The Wi-fi has always been iffy. Today after owning it less than a year, it won't boot up. It just whines. I treat my electronics well. Not a scratch on it, it looks new. But it is garbage. I should have spent the extra $200 and gotten quality.

 "Love this Skype Machine" 2009-07-25

OK, so I just wanted to tell everyone out there that this little linux mini labtop is just awesome. it was everything you need for a net-book. just get a 3g card and go. it so small and powerful that you can take it with you anywhere where. The best thing about this is that I put linux skype on it, and call and video anyone any where I go. it is the best. one last note. it you are not computer savvy, installing skype on linux is not easy, only for real geeksters.

 "Hardly lasted 24 hours" 2009-07-23

I bought this netbook Tuesday night. I was browsing trusted sites Wednesday night when the whole thing locked. After waiting awhile, I manually powered down, waited, and powered back up. It couldn't get past the "loading windows" screen. I called support and we went through a list of troubleshooting items. Finally, they wanted to ship me a recovery dvd, but told me I would have to by my own optical drive. Unacceptable. This is going back to the store (Walmart). Acer and I are done.

"Only downside is slow wifi" 2009-07-18
By Amit Ellana
For the features the computer runs great and I have no problems. Some complain about the fan noise, but simple free app fixed that problem. The only issue I can't seem to iron out is the slow Wifi. I can't seem to get it where it's suppose to be, it's always lagging behind. If anyone else fixed this problem let me know! I use this laptop a lot in the garage, I try to do as much work on my car myself. The laptop fits under hood, under the car, in the trunk, under the sink, in the attic.....

 "Limited by useful" 2009-07-15
By Robert H. Leeper (Bellaire, TX USA)
Needed a light note taker ... tried several 'digital' pens, none worked very well. Spent some weeks reviewing the netbook field, decided on the Aspire One.

I take it to meetings to take minutes (Open Office), keyboard is big enough; later transfer the files to my desktop (thumb drive as I cannot make the One see the Win network), edit, print and email the minutes. All very simple.

I also take it to the beach house to web surf and check email, easy to pack!

I've had to reload the O/S only once ... none since I stopped trying to 'improve' the system. Added a backup routine. Might try to upgrade to Firefox 3, but those linux instructions!

On the plus side (on linux), I didn't have to buy (and renew) the firewall/malware/antivirus and all the other XP 'necessities.'
