1) The core of this DVD drive is made by Dell. Please follow these steps for DVD drive to function properly.
2) Please connect DVD drive with 2 USB cables (power & data).

Anyway when I tried to put it on, it did not fir my notebook, gave it to a friend who had a smaller unit and it did not fit hers either. Wrote to the dealer and explained my situation asking if there was anyway to return it and was not given the courtesy of a reply. Cover itself seems to be a really nice one.
